Poverty is a tragic condition that afflicts millions of people around the world.  Many struggle to obtain basic necessities and to provide for themselves . . . 14% of Niagara residents live below the low income cut offs.

Many individuals within Community Living St. Catharines who are living independently are doing so on a very limited income.  Community Participation Support Services recognized this struggle and developed the Helping Hands Program through the TSS Day Program.  Individuals in our Day Program are involved in goal related activities they have chosen which include kitchen skills, cooking and baking.  These individuals are now preparing meals and treats to be distributed to other individuals within our agency who need a “helping hand” to make ends meet.

This program is limited to individuals supported by Community Living St. Catharines who have no other support.  Individuals meeting criteria for assistance can access this program on a weekly basis (Friday) and the process is reviewed on a quarterly basis to allow others in need to access this program.
